DC's foster care crisis
Due to a mistaken decision by the Child and Family Services Agency, and total lack of oversight from legislators and advocates, the District lost a number of foster homes. As a result, children taken into foster care have been sleeping in offices and hotels. Social worker Marie Cohen saw this happening a year ago but couldn't get anybody to care.
