Heat emergency activated June 23 1:00 - 7:00 pm

According to Alert DC, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Washington DC Metropolitan Area from 1:00 pm this afternoon until 7:00 pm this evening.   Heat index values are expected to reach 105°.   DC government is expected to activate a heat emergency.

According to the Alert DC notice,

The Heat Advisory means that a period of high temperatures is expected which could cause heat related illnesses. Please take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke; wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
