February 24 event: Economic Inclusion: Maximizing the Power of the EITC

Economic Inclusion: Maximizing the Power of the EITC, sponsored by Capital Area Asset Builders and others, will take place Tuesday, February 24 from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm at The R.I.S.E. Demonstration Center (2730 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave SE).   The event includes a networking lunch.   Attendance is free, but registration is required.

According to the invitation,

Kartik Athreya, group vice president, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, will discuss his recent research on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), with a focus on EITC use in DC. The EITC is the Nation's largest income-support program. Rich Petersen and Joseph Leitmann-Santa Cruz of Capital Area Asset Builders will lead a discussion of current efforts to maximize the number of DC residents who benefit from the EITC and the partnerships required for success.

The February 24 event is the first in the series of discussions about improving financial health in DC.   Future topics include access to credit and new financial products for unbanked and under-banked households; credit building and repair; and will culminate in the development of a financial inclusion action plan for DC.
