And The City Fund is live!

The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region (CFNCR) today announced that The City Fund, the brainchild of Mayor Vincent Gray to support the valuable work of nonprofits serving DC residents, is a go.   Details about the Fund, including the deadline for proposals, is on The City Fund website

The key takeaways from the CFNCR email:

Proposals for the first grant round must be submitted via The Community Foundation’s online application system no later than 4pm on November 25, 2013.

The first round of grants, of up to $100,000, will be awarded for project/program support. The fund will also provide one-time capacity building grants that can be administered over a three year period. A second grant round will be issued in the spring of 2014 for capacity building efforts.

Two grantseeker information sessions will be held on October 28th and 31st. All interested applicants are encouraged to participate. Please contact Jennylee Hansen, Program Associate for the City Fund at to register for one of the information sessions.

The launch, as you may know, was delayed as a result of the federal government shutdown.
