Contact the DC Council May 9 to protect the $15 million One City Fund

Immediate action―May 9, 8:00 am - 3:30 pm―is required to protect the $15 million One City Fund to help District nonprofits help District residents better.   If you support the $15 million fund, proposed by Mayor Gray as part of the FY 2014 budget, call or email DC Councilmembers and deliver the message below.   Also, encourage your board, colleagues, supporters, and clients to deliver the important message.
"I am (name) and I am calling from (organization) located in (Ward __).

I urge you to support of the One City Fund as introduced by Mayor Gray when you vote at the Committee of the Whole mark-up this afternoon. The Fund will infuse much needed operating funding into the nonprofit community in the areas of education, job training, health, services for seniors, arts, public safety, and the environment. This money will directly benefit District residents, your constituents.

As designed, the Fund provides maximum transparency and accountability. Further, the Fund's operator, the Community Foundation of the National Capital Region, will evaluate individual grantees and the effort overall. These evaluations are a particular value added, something never done of funding let by the government. In this way, the city will best serve residents and establish the District as embracing quality practices."
