Affordable telephone service for low-income residents

The Lifeline Program provides low-income residents with affordable home or wireless telephone service.   Generally, those who participate in an income support program such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), who are on Medicaid, or whose children participate in the National School Lunch Program's free lunch program are eligible.

Residents apply directly to telephone companies.

Lifeline Awareness Week 2012 is September 10 – 14.   Additional information is available on the FCC website in English and Spanish.
