40 free art events for 40 days starting January 4

There is something for everyone—dance, music, jewelry making, photography, and more—at CHAW's 40th anniversary celebration kickoff starting in January 2012.

Arts for DC Kids has graciously allowed this repost of details about the offerings.

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop Hosts 40 Free Events in 40 Days
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop hosts 40 free events in 40 days running January 4 through February 12, 2012 at 545 7th Street, SE.   The 40 events explore how art continually engages, inspires, informs, and excites by featuring concerts, performances, workshops, and classes for various ages.   The program culminates in a 40th Anniversary Concert on Sunday, February 12 at 4:00 pm at the Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church (4th Street and Independence Ave., SE).

"This event is not only a thank you to the community and a celebration of 40 years of art-making, but a launching off point for future innovations in building community through the arts," says Amy Moore, CHAW’s Director of Education and Programs.   "It is a testament to the arts, not as a luxury or something optional, but as a lifestyle."

Here is the complete catalogue of the 40 free events.   Pre-registration is required for some events.   Register on-line here or call (202) 547-6839.
