DC Public Schools is doing more than educating children and youth.   It is engaging families and education stakeholders and educating the community, too.   Upcoming events are:

  • Community Meeting on Proposal to Close Shaed Education, January 25:   This event is being held from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at Shaed Education Campus (301 Douglas St NE).   Community members may provide testimony regarding the proposal to close Shaed Education Campus at the end of the 2010-2011 school year.   Testimony is limited to three minutes per person but does not need to be submitted in advance.   More about delivery testimony in advance and the closing proposal are on the DCPS web site.
  • DCPS Community Forum:   College Readiness, January 26.   This event is being held from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Eastern High School (1700 East Capitol St NE).   More information is on the DCPS web site.
  • (Updated 1/24 7:36 am) State of Ward 7 Schools:   DCPS is bringing together Ward 7 residents to discuss a community vision of education throughout the ward, from pre-school through college and/or career.   The event takes place January 29 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Kelly Miller Middle School.   The event is in collaboration with Ward 7 CM Alexander.   Ward 7 principals will be on hand to speak with parents about schools, and interim Chancellor Kaya Henderson and CM Alexander will kick off the event.
