Wash your hands!

I missed National Handwashing Awareness Week 2010 (PDF) but in the spirit of handwashing to prevent flu and other ickiness, I am sharing this very cool soap dispenser that lights up and plays music for 20 seconds while kids wash their hands.   If, for some reason, you don't want to buy this gadget, the CDC recommends singing the Happy Birthday song twice.

The CDC also has this advice for when to wash your hands:

  • Before, during, and after preparing food
  • Before eating food
  • After using the toilet
  • After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet
  • Before and after caring for someone who is sick
  • After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • After touching an animal or animal waste
  • After touching garbage
  • Before and after treating a cut or wound
