New youth empowerment facility opens

Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) is holding an open house September 21 to show off the new site for the agency's Office of Youth Empowerment (OYE) and the programs OYE provides for young people in foster care.   The event is for youth, private contractors and the public and the particulars about the event are in this flier.

Nearly 60% of children in foster care in DC are between the ages of 12 and 21.   This makes specialized services for older youth particularly important.

CFSA is banking on the new location and a new array of services and supports for young people to improve outcomes for these kids when they leave foster care.   Services offered by OYE include self assessments, training (such as life skills), academic support, and work readiness.
