Attend the PEOPLE’S Hearing December 7

The December 7, 9:00 am PEOPLE’S Hearing is the public's last opportunity to have their voices heard about the necessity of City Council members making the best choices that put people back to work.   The event, being held in the front of the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave NW ), will feature a call to CMs to make the better choice by raising the income tax by 1% for those with income over $200,000/yr and at the same time investing in efforts focused on work.

Co-sponsors DC Jobs with Justice, DC We The People, Empower DC, Save Our Safety Net DC, local small businesses, and others have joined together to oppose the cuts proposed by Mayor Fenty to close the FY 2011 gap of $188 million.   The mayor proposed cuts to child care subsidies, TANF, adult job training, disability assistance, the grandparent caregivers program, and more.

Direct questions to Empower DC by calling 234-9119.   Or, review (and share) the event flier.
