The executive branch in the 9/25 DCR

Public hearings on special education:   The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) has announced a number of public hearings on policies related to Part B and Part C of the federal Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).   The hearings will be held on October 8 and 13.   Important details about the subjects and hearings are detailed in the online notice.

Final rules on newborn screening:   The Department of Health issued final rules in the September 25 DCR concerning neonatal screening services.   These screens include hearing and metabolic disorders.

As was announced by the DC Public Library in mid-September, public use of the underground parking garage at the main library (MLK, 901 G St NW) will be discontinued as a result of cuts made in the FY 2010 budget.   The proposed rules (page 7655) published in the September 25 DCR state public parking will cease November 14, 2009.   There is an associated public policy change notice also published.
