Action Alert: Give youth a voice!

The Campaign for Youth Justice is encouraging youth and adults alike to turn out for the Ward 6 community meetings to comment on the recommendations of the Juvenile Crime Task Force.   According to the Campaign for Youth Justice, "The recommendations include ideas on ways to curb juvenile crime in DC’s neighborhoods—some of which are steps backwards for DC’s youth.   Of particular concern are several recommended initiatives that would open up juvenile records to a range of city agencies and community groups.   While these reforms are well intentioned, they risk the stigmatization of at-risk youth and juvenile offenders."

The community meeting schedule is here.

The Campaign is ready to help any and all who may need a little help to be an effective advocate for the city's young people.   Contact Nate, jjcommunity[AT]campaignforyouthjustice[DOT]org or 2/558-3580.
