Missed the Council's stimulus hearing? No fear, check this out!

On February 11, 2009, the DC Council held a public hearing on the potential benefits of the federal stimulus on the District of Columbia. Dan Tangherlini, city administrator, testified.   This is his written statement.   Natwar Gandhi, the city's CFO, also testified at the hearing; his testimony is here.

The theme of both?   This is not a windfall and the city should exercise caution about accepting the money (especially if there are MOE -- maintenance of effort -- requirements) and should direct funding toward one-time and not on-going expenses.   DCFPI added to the discussion in Jenny Reed's testimony on the DCFPI site.   If you missed the hearing, go to OCT to watch it on demand.
